Afghanistan

Afghanistan

Afghanistan
Capital: Kabul

The US and other NATO forces invaded Afghanistan under the pretext of pursuing Osama Bin Laden and his "Al Qaeda" organization. Even though the Taliban had nothing to do with the September 11th plot, the Taliban are forced from power.

December 2013
Around 84,000 NATO soldiers are still in Afghanistan
About 60,000 of them are U.S. soldiers.
U.S. contractors outnumber U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan as of 2009.

2014
Most NATO forces are being withdrawn.
Approximately 13,000 NATO forces are to remain in Afghanistan supposedly for training and assistance of Afghan forces.

Some U.S. forces are only being withdrawn from Afghanistan and Iraq for a possible attack on Syria.

2016
Around 9,800 US military personnel remain in Afghanistan.

2021
NATO forces begin withdrawing from Afghanistan.

April 15 2021
Taliban forces enter Kabul and take over Afghanistan again.

Strategic Khyber Pass from Pakistan to Afghanistan

Opium fields
Part of the “Golden Crescent” an area in Afghanistan and Pakistan in which opium grows wild.
U.S. complacent in Opium trade in Afghanistan. Canadian CBC report on how the Taliban eradicated the Opium fields aired in early 2001. After September 11, 2001 and the following U.S. invasion, the Opium fields suddenly reappear. Report on NBC news and most other mainstream U.S. news networks about how heroine was hitting the streets of the U.S. more plentiful than in years.

The Taliban are enemies of the so called "Islamic State" who frequently commit to indiscriminate bombings in Afghanistan. The so called "Islamic State" or "ISIS" seem to have all the same enemies as the US government and the so called state of israel. The "Islamic State" is at war with HAMAS and various other Palestinian groups. The "Islamic State" is at war with Kurdish groups such as the PKK and affiliates. The "Islamic State" is against Al Shabab forces in Somalia. The "Islamic State" is against the governments of Syria and Iraq. The "Islamic State" is against Hezbollah as well. The "Islamic State" is against the government of Egypt. All real groups that are aligned against NATO and a potential threat to israel, the "Islamic State" seem to have issue with. They seem to fight everyone but NATO and israel.
