Nuclear Weapons
The Ukraine inherited a large nuclear arsenal after the fall of the Soviet Union. The Ukraine decided to have the weapons destroyed. This arsenal included SS-19 and SS-24 ballistic missiles.
The Ukraine had large amounts of highly enriched uranium, which the U.S. sought to buy so it wouldn't be sold on the international market.
The Ukraine also has two Uranium mining and processing plants and a heavy water plant.
